Grief is a natural response to loss, but that doesn’t make it easy. Whether you’re mourning the death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, or another significant loss, grief can feel overwhelming, isolating, and confusing.
At Blue Rock Psychology, we provide compassionate support to help you navigate grief at your own pace.
Understanding Grief
Grief isn’t just sadness. It encompasses a wide range of emotions and experiences that can shift from moment to moment and day to day.
You may be experiencing:
- Deep sadness and longing
- Anger
- Guilt or regret
- Anxiety
- Numbness
- Physical symptoms (fatigue, changes in appetite, difficulty sleeping)
- Questioning your faith or beliefs
- Relief (especially after a long illness), often followed by guilt about feeling relieved
All of these responses are normal. Grief doesn’t follow a predictable timeline or neat stages.
Types Of Loss We Support
Grief isn’t limited to death. Our therapists help clients process many kinds of loss:
- Death of a loved one (parent, partner, child, friend, pet)
- Pregnancy loss and infertility
- End of a relationship or divorce
- Loss of health or ability
- Loss of a job or career
- Moving away from home or community
- Loss of faith or religious identity
- Estrangement from family
How We Approach Grief Therapy
We don’t try to “fix” your grief or rush you through it. Instead, we offer:
A Safe Space to Grieve
Many people feel pressure to “move on” or “be strong.” Therapy provides a space where all your feelings are welcome, including the messy, complicated ones.
Understanding Your Unique Grief
Your relationship with what you lost was unique. Your grief will be too. We help you make meaning of your experience in a way that honours both your loss and your continuing life.
Processing Difficult Emotions
Sometimes grief gets held at bay by numbness, complicated by anger or guilt, or intertwined with past losses. We help you work through these tangles.
Maintaining Connection
Grief therapy isn’t about “letting go” in a way that severs your bond with who or what you’ve lost. It’s about finding ways to carry that connection forward as you rebuild your life.
Practical Support
We also address the practical challenges of grief, like navigating changed relationships, making decisions, and handling difficult anniversaries or triggers.
